this game blew up because they knew the key to success. good public opinion from having at least 2 month's worth of good content to play through before really having to spend money to keep the game fun. so lots of fully-free players loved the game. that and they let global chat moderate itself, only stepping in if someone was reported. made it a safe haven for edgy kids to hang out. not as many undesirables online back then either.

the guy who made clash also made bloxx, the best selling java game period. from the era of pre-iphone smartphones. it even outsold sims 3, majesty, asphalt, assassin creed and diner dash with how well it was designed for the target platform. the guy who made bloxx and clash was a true genius designer.
