>>713518558>Did they get rid of saviour schnapps? No, but the save system is overal FAR more permisive. Schnaps is cheaper, easier to make in batches, and pretty much litters the locations around the world, so you barely ever even need to pay for it.
They also added proper checkpoints along all quest lines, which are themselves honestly quite generous, and they don't disable them even on Hardcore (which is the way you should play the game, ideally with the numbskull and tapeworm traits).
Now saving is something you only need to check out every 5-10 hours to see of your stockpile needs restocking in case you did try to save-scum some particular problem away, otherwise, you really, really won't be lacking for saves. Hell, outside freeroam, you barely need any saves, the mid-mission checkpoints are a plenty.
Personally, I actually think this was not a good decision. They should have doubled down on save schnaps. This compromise solution is really half-hearted and makes you wonder why it's even there, the tension is so reduced that frankly, you might as well just get the unlimited saves instead - as it stands now, schnaps is just a minor inconvenience and won't really achieve what it is supposed to do: encourage players to go on with bad development and commit to a decision.
Schnaps was a good mechanic, that wasn't very well balanced in the first game, but what it needed was actually the opposite of what they did: it needed to be more limited.
Thankfully, pretty much every aspect of the game is - just like the first one - modable. If you don't like limited saves, it's a matter of two clicks to remove it, and correspondingly, there are many mods that actually lessen it's accesibility too.
