I played GW1 again these few months with a fresh character, up to Winds of Change normal. The meta-route just seems so disjointed these days. It's true you can play the campaigns in any order but progression-wise you really want to start in Nightfall first to get the beginner heroes, then hop around Factions and EOTN to get PvE-only skills and more heroes. Story-wise there are very explicit parts that indicate the campaigns happened in release-order. No idea how a completely new player would enjoy it honestly.

They weren't that good. A lot of people played, but very few were tryhard sweats. If you played a lot and were average then you just kinda drifted upward because of how many newfags were constantly playing. The top 25-30 eople all knew each other even though skill between them varied greatly
