He swears by it until the 11th hour, nearly goes through with it, then seemingly dies trying to undo his mistake and when he returns that's the end of it. Just because he fixed his fuckup doesn't mean he didn't try in the first place but Sonic and crew are just like "Shadow's back, iz coo."

I finally watched Sonic 3 last night. I hate the entire Sonic movie trilogy but the only reason people loooooove the 3rd movie is because of Shadow and Keanu Reeves. That's literally it.

Anon I'm going to say a few things to you.
1) Gerald being alive makes no sense.
2) Luring Ivo with his drones makes NO SENSE if he wanted to destroy the planet, including himself, he didn't need Ivo for anything. He could have easily just taken the key using Shadow.
3) And this one is important, Gerald and Shadow's whole thing is about "Maria" yet Gerald wants to kill another family member he just met.

The feud between Big Boss and Zero post-MGS3 is pretty much what assures most of the later crises can occur in the way they do. But apart from anything else BB is directly respsonsible for both Outer Heaven and Zanzibarland (the former is Venom but still on BB's directive) and Zero is responsible for everything the Patriots did.

They put a lot of effort to design a character that wasn't in the mold of any previous character in the franchise and to just want that to last for one game seems improbable, especially with how much marketing was centering on him. Sonic Adventure 2 was kino. Sonic's swan song.

A lot of Shadow's lyrics had to do with how conflicted he feels. Even in his theme, "Throw It All Away", it comments on how, even if he is immortal, it doesn't matter and he would rather throw it all away because the life itself is meaningless.

In Rhythm and Balance, the White Jungle stage where you have to save Rouge before the island explodes, the song asks over and over if Shadow is scared, once again that if he fails, he will lose yet another person close to him.

In the Supernatural, Final Chase's stage, the song starts asking if Shadow is even the Ultimate Lifeform to begin with as he gets closer to Maria's "dream."

The Biolizard of course, is unironically what I'd call Shadow's swan song. "Supporting Me" sounds just like the title, Shadow has finally given up revenge and learned that he wants to protect the world but he doesn't really know how to do this. He will do everything in his power, knowing that Maria is supporting him in order to fulfill her last wish, even if it means his untimely end, which the song references at the end of the song as well.

And of course, Live and Learn. Pretty explanatory, but it's learning to live with your mistakes and to keep moving in life even if all seems lost.

Shadow's story was unironically a great lead up from a broken individual lead on by hatred to one of redemption, giving his life to the ones he tried to destroy in the first place. We really won't have kino like this again, but at least its here.

I mean when you think about it too, setting aside the consistency within the series of if super forms can survive falls to earth from space, the very same game made a point of showing us that someone survived being blasted to earth using chaos control just moments before, in normal form, with a FAKE emerald at that. It really does make the most sense to assume that Shadow a hedgehog with far more experience using chaos control, in a super form, could pull something off same as sonic did.
