They kept trying to focus on building a chunky voxel game with all kinds of bullshit superficial details to make it "pretty" instead of focusing on iterating on Minecraft's formula and making something that could do everything Minecraft could and more while also being more flexible for modders and server operators like everyone actually wanted. Get the base functionality down first, and make it look as nice as you can without bogging down performance. Minecraft has always looked like wet shit and no one has ever given a fuck because the core of the game is fun and unique.

The other day I think I saw a hytale clone running on browser, and did a pretty good job at replicating the feel and looks of the game, if not for the limited scope because still was in early development.

The only thing hytale had going for itself for me was the visuals and all the details. From all those games I played that try to be a survival voxel sandbox they are often quite boring with you running around in a forest and in caves trying to collect iron. Even minecraft itself has grown somewhat stale over the years go me, all the mods feel the same and nothing new comes out.

I just saved all the screenshots and videos I thought looked nice from their website just in case goes down, I will try to recreate the visuals the best I can and steal the best ideas they had and make a mod for mc and trow it for free somewhere. Nothing of value will be lost of someone bother to do that.
