I have 250+ hours in this game yet never tried hard mode. How is it? I know there's an exp bonus and gold bonus but does that really make the game easier in the long run? Also how's BBI? does it get affected by hard mode? I would assume it gets quite hard if that's the case specially during the 2nd run.

The difficulty becomes very erratic in hardmode. At first, even bats can kill you, wolves one-shot you. Then you level so fast that they stop being a threat, until you hit the next difficulty spike with new enemies.

On a fresh save? Expect to be oneshot by bats and archers until midgame, where you're so rich that money doesn't matter anymore and you can be fully kitted with the currently best weapons and armor.

If your character is already high level, the only difference will be double stamina usage. Where as on a fresh file you get one shot by pretty much everything but level up giga quick and get tons of cash (every other enemy drops a 10k gold bag).

Only real difference is the stamina being halved, damage taken being doubled and your stagger resistance being lowered. But you're so rich you can just boost everything with periapts to trivialise it anyway.

Sounds more annoying than actually challenging. Thanks for the feedback anons, might just replay DD2 with some mods to make it harder or maybe go back to DDON.

Don't play hard mode. Just put a level cap on yourself with the tweak mod thing.

hard mode aint much of a difference and after level 20 or so its basically exactly same as normal.
DD2 is unironically harder than the first game on hard and dont let faggots tell
you otherwise.

it is ass, because you'll spend an assload of time reloading if you take more than a few scratches of damage at any one time. it's honestly not worth it.

The main problem with DD and DD2 is being able to level up. It should have been just an action game without stats. The only thing to level up being your class.

I remember getting one shot by wolves a lot at the start, then it was basically normal after I leveled a bit

You can just cheese the start by getting the first augment from warrior that deduces damage taken.

I meant the start of the game.
Reaching level 10 in hard mode is trivial. And you can just spend some points to unlock warrior and get the first augment then switch back.

Yeah, you get jumped by wolves as soon as you leave the starting town
That's what we're talking about
You don't get to change vocations until you reach Gran Soren

I've played both, and I'd say they are equally easy. Apparently enemies in DD2 are even less agressive tho.
>>713532941
yeah agree, specially when the damage formula is so retarded

Hard mode makes warrior completely fucking useless, just a heads up
