The two most retarded parts of this take are
1. Dark Souls (And other games in the series) do have a story, they just dont spoon feed it to you and its entirely up to you whether you seek it out or wander around bonking skeletons. So if someone claims it doesnt have a story, they're just admitting they cant understand anything unless its spoon fed to them.

2, Minimalised story telling that isnt shoved in your face, and instead dripped to you in hints and environmental story telling and the like, is a really good way to not let games become MGS4 and turn into hours upon hours of cutscenes.

Its just that the form the story is presented in isnt obvious, to say that theres NO story isnt right.
You can infer the story from either item descriptions or just observing. Darian/devin can have the same armour, they also talk about the name of d or whatever, and when talking to the one with fia im pretty sure he mumbles about avenging his brother or some shit. People who make hour long videos explaining are for those who cant be bothered to figure it out at the time. 'Forgive me... x' is probably used a lot because it tells you that character has a connection to whoever theyre talking about.

That said though I like Sekiros story the best and that one is the most obvious. I think the bigger issue with some fromsoft games are the convoluted questlines which cause people to miss story rather than the way the story is presented itself.
