How was it ever considered good when Ninja Gaiden was released a year before and BTFO out of it? Is it just Snoys being ignorant?

I have never seen someone actually say ninja gaiden is good. They always only nebulusly compare it as "better" than something else

DMC3 despite having a lot of low points, has a lot of great high points that are placed well throughout the campaign and has a pretty good narrative. By the end when I felt pretty elated beating the final boss and watching the credits roll. Whereas after beating NGB's final boss I just thought "that was it"? NGB's highlights are mostly just fighting ninjas or other humanoid enemies sporadically throughout the campaign and the bosses suck.

It's fun

Immensely better presentation, soundtrack and designs than NG. A story with characters people care about and get invested in. Slick soundtrack, perfect of its era. Great character designs, Dante, Vergil and Lady are top tier and so are many of the enemies and bosses.

I like both but NG is way behind on all things outside of gameplay.

NG is much better. Even the combos, yes, it's a contrarian take. But I like the combos in NG better. The only bad things are MN water levels and that's about it. DMC3 is boring on all difficulties. But at least you can make sick MAD YOUTUBE VIDEOS

Both NGB and DMC3SE are GOATed action games and your stupid autistic gamewars threads won't ever change that fact.

Unironically the story. It matters a lot more than people like to say it does. Both games are super fun and have the best action gameplay of their era, but only Devil May Cry has the setting, characters, and ploline to make it stand out. Dante and Vergil are quite simple but extremely well designed characters with very good storylines, and the way their stories are tied to Lady and Arkham which in turn are linked to each other, it's very skillful writing. Ninja Gaiden clearly doesn't care at all about its story and just relies on appealing character designs.
