The fights were hyped and the only real widely accepted complaint was how the Ozai fight ended. The azula fight and the emotions and story behind it was amazing. The aang vs Ozai fight was also insanely good for what the series showed. It never really failed to deliver with the avatar state.

It's consistent that zuko never thought things through as much as he should've. Also Katara had to have some sort of scene. It's kinda unfortunate how the rest of team avatar had lackluster ending action scenes although as a kid I was more than satisfied. I think it just doesn't hold up to the works of fiction that would come after.

Team Avatar is a ragtag group of rejects from all over the world and the only one of them that has ever actually been to this place has outdated knowledge from a century ago. In spite of that, they manage to blend in seamlessly with the average Fire Nation people. This is because the average person in the Fire Nation is just a normal person and not a violent psychopath like we'd been led to believe prior to season 3. Aang is just able to walk into a school, make friends and throw a party like it's nothing.

The point of the Beach episode is to juxtapose all of this with Zuko, Azula and their weird ass friends. They couldn't fit in with normal people even if they tried. Not because of things out of their control like their royal status or Zuko's scar, it's simply because they are fucking weird. No one even knows who they are at the party but they still walk around and act as if they own the house of the guy who invited them. None of them ever learned how to socialize growing up so they struggle to fit in even within their own nation.

Thinking Katara took Zuko's spotlight is such a stupid take. Azula couldn't move Zuko an inch, was visibly fatigued and losing her composure, and she had to break the rules of the Agni Kai to even stand a chance. She lost her honor to Zuko and lost the battle of to Katara.

Zuko probably would have won it if it was a fair fight, but the whole point is that he didn't lose because he wasn't alone. Azula with all her power and cheap tricks still lost because she threw away everyone that might have supported or cared about her. If she had kept the Dai Li, or even just had Ty Lee still with her she probably wouldn't have lost the throne.

Azula didn't break any rules. She simply skill checked Zuko after he decided to lie and claim he could redirect any lightning Azula uses. He was in fact not able to redirect it when she didn't shoot it directly at him and almost died trying. That's what he gets for talking shit and not having the skill to back it up. It's not Azula's fault that he never learned after getting his face melted off for doing the same thing to his father.

Zuko lost both these Agni Kais because he showed weakness and a lack of honor not because anyone cheated or played unfairly. If anything, they went easy on him. Ozai gave Zuko a chance to stand and defend himself which he didn't take. Azula chose not to fly around and spam lightning like she usually does out of respect for the fact that Zuko is a shitter and can't do things like that.

Korra's biggest problem was that it wasn't all written at one time.
It is wild how much this one simple thing can improve the quality of a work as much as it does, it is legit easy-mode for making a better piece of media. Just plan out the entire story ahead of time, and make it. Literally just that simple.
Korra was not, it was done one season at a time for most of its run, with the only exception being that they knew they were going to get a season 4 while season 3 was still in production, so they were able to prepare a little bit ahead of time, in this case though it just wasn't quite enough. For this reason korra's story lacks thematic resonance across its seasons, because they were all just self contained stories. This resulted in a lot of disjointed storytelling where korra ends up resetting all of her character growth basically every fucking season.

Unless you were an educated man who knew the details of the royal family tree, the limit of your exposure to the royal family would be knowing royal written decrees, seeing a picture of them if an illustrator put his likeness to paper or stone in a place you could access, and maybe seeing the royals during a parade or public address, if you were in a place of such note that the Fire Lord and his family decided to parade through or address within that locale.

We know from the series that Ozai had his likeness in schools as a matter of nationalistic pride, and of course people would know *of* the royal family, but how else would the average citizen know the face of members of the royal family? It's not like you can just check their instagram page my dude.
