>>713584846>simple, either make a backlog then measure the amount of time they all take and start beating themSpeaking from experience, this is the worst fathomable advice you could give to someone with OCD/analysis paralysis. They will end up doing nothing but autistically sorting, categorizing, and optimizing their backlog as a means of putting off actually making a decision. Moreover, they end up filling their backlog with shit they'll never get around to playing (and eventually lose all interest in playing), but feel "obligated" to finish their backlog, which just confounds the decision making process even more.
In fact, I would argue that if someone like OP *does* have a backlog (like, as a text file or something), the very first thing they should do is delete it. There's a very good chance they don't even really want to play half of the games on their backlog anymore, and its mere existence detracts from them actually getting around to playing a game.
>>713584447 (OP)I know this advice is going to sound overly simplistic and unhelpful, but the only thing I've found that works is just trying to shut your brain off and pick something mindlessly. If you feel even the slightest whim to play a game, if the thought of playing it crosses your mind for a second, just install it and play.
Don't think about it or try to analyze it. Don't second guess it. The moment you start deliberating is the moment you trap yourself. It's also worthwhile to realize that endless deliberation is a completely pointless endeavor, and there are no real consequences to "making the wrong choice".
