I'm about three quarters through the main campaign on Exterminatus, but god damn if that last fight is gonna go easy for me, I could barely handle it on Hard. Would you recommend sticking to upgrading the Plasma Gun over any other weapon for that or should I go with something else?

I only play games on harder difficulties that I enjoyed on normal. I almost never 100% the steam cheevos because cheevo hunting is megagay. If there's an in-game trophy box or something like FreeSpace has, I'll fill that out.

I'd say melta or the green gravity ball. Actually melta, I remember a lot of ammo and you want to be doing as much damage as possible to the worst enemies in the arena and of course it works best on the boss.

Well it's better than doing sniper shots because shit will just keep respawning. Wait. It's kinda like the four kings in Dark Souls and it's a DPS race and there's a good chance you'll run out of resources.

What makes you think plasma is best for the situation? The problem for me is self splash damage when you're blitzing around.

Of the three 'basic' weapons whose ammo is plentiful in any given level, plasma has the better upgrade since it upgrades, damage, splash, RoF and magazine capacity, not to mention it has better damage potential compared to the boltgun and the shotgun per shot. Getting splashed by your own shots is a problem though, but the benefits outweigh the risks I've found.

No offense to those because I used them plenty in the earlier parts of the game, but that arena does not call for those except maybe the shotty for those really basic cultist guys. The problem with the plasma even with the upgrade is that it's still too slow and doesn't do enough damage on the sorcerer (which I assume isn't your intent)

Yeah, that's the issue I've been grappling with in the leadup, it's been great for the rest of the game, but that last arena is a DPS race against greater daemons and the sorcerer that the plasma gun doesn't really help against.
