I make $16/hr so I would be trading roughly 34 hours of my lifespan for a switch 2 + Mario kart + tax + tip

I just tested and local 3-player splitscreen downgrades the fps to 30, just like mario kart 8 on the switch. Instant buyers remorse. The had better be the developing the best games ever that don't require graphical fidelty otherwise this weak hardware is just not worth it.
is the online subscription included with the bundle?
if you (or a relative/friend) have a costco membership than consider getting an S1. you can return it full price and get the S2 in a year when new games come out and hopefully an updated system with a better screen and battery than whats available on the S2. mario kart world does not seem like its worth the $500 price tag.

Yeah its worth it. New Maro Kart is so much fun. I've played it more than anything since I got it. Learning the shortcuts and items is VERY fun.
Things that suck: no REAL way to play 3 lap races online; gotta hope everyone picks random (which actually happens a lot when you get high rank)
Open world is just kind of shit. Nothing to do except mostly easy challenges. Some of them are good, most are not.
As for the machine itself: battery life is like 2 hours if you're on wifi but turn off wifi and hdr and shit and you can get like 3+ hours.
Screen is NOT GOOD. It has low response time so you get ghosting on fast movement shit. I was fucking annoyed at this but you don't notice it on Mario Kart, but you will on 2D side scrollers for sure.
All in all, it's fucking sweet if you like Nintendo games. If not, well, maybe it's not so amazing. I sold my PS5 for a S2 and I'm happy with my decision.
Oh and if you had a S1 a bunch of stuff just plays better out the gate
