Would it have made a difference though? Would more people have bought FFXVI if they gave it FFX-2's ATB (the pinnacle of ATB) and a party of 6 niggas with 3 of those niggas in a row at a time? Or even FFX's CTB, which while not the pinnacle of the turn-based battle seems to suffice for the majority of the genre? Would the Eikon fights have been as epic? Would the tedium people talk about that starts between hour 20 and hour 60 go away just because it's not action-based anymore? Would (You) have bought it still despite it being a timed PS5 exclusive?

Simply making it turn based won't save FF simply because Yoshi is a dog shit director that strips out any and all complexity for the sake of accessibility.

On top of that Yoshi can't help but fall into the JRPG trope (despite hating the term JRPGs) of making the third act go completely full retard. Ultima was a fucking awful twist and ruined 16s story.

Yoshi could make 1000 games and never come close to doing what E33 did.
