I know you're baiting but having the gameplay just be hiding in closets rather than outlast's parcour means if you know you're caught you basically just give up. Completely nullifies the scariness whereas in outlast you're fighting to stay alive to the last second.

>>Hard Mode was announced by Frictional Games to be released with the Xbox One edition of Amnesia: Collection on September 21, 2018

The original version released on Steam, you couldn't die.

Yeah, it was shit.
I was a huge fan of the Penumbra games, and everyone was excited for Amnesia for being essentially "the true P3" at the time.

In the end, we got a stripped down, casual horror walking sim, with no penalty (in some rooms, they even remove the enemy for you if you get caught!), completely pointless "sanity meter" mechanic, and a plot that's all over the place.

What the fuck is this Gen-A narrative??
Amnesia and Outlast are literally the same slop.

This shitty game unironically ruined horror games for a good ten years

What is your metric for slop? They're bad because they're not punishing enough? Can you use your words to articulate your point?

Run and hide shit with no problem solving, non-linear exploration nor combat.
Literally the cancer of early 2010s mainstream "streamer" horror slop.

It's a fucking cold day in hell when we need to EXPLAIN this shit to new fags.

I would say "run and hide' is infinitely more fun than "crouch in the dark for fifteen seconds."

In that one Amnesia game with the pregnant protagonist you would get killed by a jpeg jumpscare if your sanity went too low

Literally the same mechanic and gameplay loop.
Both are trash coming from classic survival horror.
To which Penumbra quite literally still belonged to.

Posts like these are fucking brain dead. I mean don't get me wrong, Amnesia has some core issues that are worth critiquing and fairly hard, but not having the words [game over] flash on your screen when you die one of them because you still effectively lose progress when you get teleported back to the start of the area regardless. Basically you DO die or at least suffer the consequences of it (maybe even worse than you would otherwise since you lose consumables) it just doesn't say [game over].
So your complaint is retarded
