Sony just announced Diablo 4 is going to be a monthly game on PS+ in July. Now if you don't own a console and don't know how it works PS+'s monthly games comes under three categories:
>Indie Games that have proven to be an unexpected hit and might pull people into reupping their subscription.
>Game which has sequel in the works to be shown at an upcoming or was shown at a recent Sony event to drum up interest that may have fallen off between releases.
>AAA often live service games that are entering an unrecoverable user decline and this is a last ditch effort to get the Playstation Userbase giving it a look and hopefully either saving the game or simply pumping enough microtransaction purchases in that it gets one last quarter of profitability.
Suicide Squad, Foamstars, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Evil Dead, the list goes on and on. Last month they added Destiny's last expansion because they games hit its lowest numbers in the games history as a "bonus game" before the quarterly shareholder reports. Years of constant evidence has shown that if a AAA live service videogame appears on Playstation Plus it is the biggest signifier that unlike would be nostradamus' on youtube doomsaying for clicks the game is actually dying.
I wondered why /v/ had a bunch of Diablo 4 shill threads lately. I guess now we know.
