Stuff like options, choices, and non-linearity probably appeals most to that kind of person. There's a similar overlap with CRPGs, and those can have some of the most obnoxious fans.

Im gonna blow you're freakin mind so you might wanna take a seat. Its a game. With an enviroment, that has simulated elements, that make it immersive. So BOTW qualifies because it has physics objects and elements that interact with the environment via simulation, rather than something like procedural physics which will create the same effect in the same circumstances every time. Rolling the snowball down the hill is an Immersive sim element.
