The Internet. Online connectivity has both helped and ruined game development. Every developer can just turn their game into an online MMO now and maximize profit without having to develop a game Annually or Biennially like they used to back when internet connections were shit.

something like GTA has no real competition and is a vast undertaking, so they can take as long as they wish.

They earned too much from idiots buying shark cards and were worried that GTA6 would cannibalize the sales.

They don’t need to make new games every year because of online money. And when they do make a game it is pushing new boundaries. RDR2 still looks amazing compared to most new releases. Use any other company as your example

I've literally never heard anyone utter this opinion and I barely watch youtube videos, let alone ones about gaming. This is my honest observation. I'm right and you're a lowly nigger.

This. Add to that that it's literally impossible for the game to flop. They're gonna deliver a massive insanely detailed experience that required a fortune and a fucking army to develop, it's gonna turn a profit within a month, and we're all gonna be fucking pleased with it

The success of RDR2 emboldened them to try more “world sim” type mechanics in GTA again and they’ve had a hellish time getting it all implemented smoothly.
