I played Mario 64 for the first time recently and I genuinely don't get all the hate it gets for being "dated" outside of the camera (which is fixed in the pc port). Why does everyone say it's the worst controlling 3D Mario? Galaxy and 3D World control much worse IMO.

There is a lot more weight to the movement, so much so it can feel like there is some delay.
I've been playing it for decades, but the last time I played it a year or so ago, on og hardware and a crt, I didnt find it fun.

I'm also at a point where a games history doesnt matter to me. Yes its one of the most important games in history, doesnt mean there are tons of better platformers today, even staring that same guy.

Yeah it was good for the time but compare the movement to Mario Odyssey or Astro Bot and it’s not particularly close.
