What's the point of 2d platforming games where you keep jumping at something random, just to test skill and motor coordination. It's like those silly Mario Maker stages; soon, one develops an anxiety disorder from stressful games because every time someone feels "anger" from losing at a stage, it's a pulse of psychological distress. I know this because that's how I feel when I play these stressful games. I don't think games like this are cool; at least in my opinion, they're not worth it. It's stress doing something that should be enjoyable and, in the end, brings no benefit, only loss.

I can accept it for retro games
But when you play a modern game like Nine Sols, and the game regularly requires you to do leaps of faith because everything is just slightly off camera, its weird.

Or if you are talking about like Super Meat Boy and like Celeste?
If the mechanics are good ,it works. There is a reason for why Hollow Knight has path of pain as mandatory to get the actual vanilla good ending, similarly because the mechanics are just that well implemented.

It's like asking why anybody would lift a dumbbell up and down over and over again.
