IGN needs correction. I'm an old Monthly Classic member and that's why I've kept it up all this time, as the subscription was well below the standard price. Them raising the price again, and sending this out even Classic members (assuming its not an oversight), is not going to endear them to the userbase especially if they fail to
>Provide more high profile and expensive titles.
Game selection isn't bad, but in the old Monthly days they had the Deluxe Edition of XCOM2 literally the month after it released. They need to get back to that shit
>Steam keys. No bullshit, no GOG, no Origin, etc
If they want to give Itch keys + Steam keys, that's fine, but if you can't get proper Steam keys the value goes down significantly. Hell, this is a place Humble could do better than many others by ensuring that games that usually only give non-Steam keys (ie Ubi, Rockstar, EA etc..) batch purchase the Steam versions - its win win.
>The stacking 20% discount on the Store is one of the reasons I stick around. NO MORE EXCEPTIONS FOR PC TITLES
I'm tired of seeing games having 10%/15% caps on some games even if your Choice sub grants you 20%. Stellar Blade, Elden Ring / SotE, Nightreign etc.. many others. Stop doing that shit to people who stuck around long enough to keep a full fucking 20%. Frankly they should increase this to 25%-30% for a win-win and if it applied to everything.
>While I'm mentioning it, don't make people choose between their discount OR charity.
Fuck that noise I'm still salty they no longer show what percentage a bundle or whatnot had raised for which charity and showed a breakdown of which OS sold as many and how much everyone paid. The very least they could do is make sure that the charity cut is separate - they're getting a huge tax dodge and they expect players to take a lower discount OR charity? Come the fuck on ,it didn't used to work that way.

>GamePass
You don't own the games, they can be removed or cycled out at any time; DLC NOT included, you buy DLC for games that you don't own if you want it. Worse, it requires you to use the Xbox/WindowsStore client to access them, independent from Steam - its basically a loss leader for Microsoft to get you into their ecosystem and keep you there. They'd be smart to make it compatible with Steam etc but they don't because its not really about selling games
>Humble, other bundles, monthly etc
You get Steam keys for 8+ games per month that are yours forever, on a platform you're already using. No special app or any other shit.. Its almost always a month that's worth the price of admission (unless you own some of the games) but the more they fuck with the price Plus, you get a big fucking discount buying games on the Humble Store that stack on direct discounts for that game.

>>713650357
Maybe its before your time, frogposter
>>713650460
So am I, you can pause whenever you want if you don't want that month's games and keep your discount provided you have enough months paid already.

Who the fuck cares, Humble is all 2 year old indies or 5 year old AAA's, if that, whereas on GP you can play current shit, day 1.

Pretty much this is a part of it. Anything you claim is yours forever, same as if you outright bought it. There's other shit too but this is a critical difference from the others and part of the value calculation. Also some games come with posted DLC included

>>713652478
if you don't care about it and only want the new shit to play immediately, are willing to kneel before Microsoft on a platform you'd not otherwise use (and it isn't like even alternative clients work well - its not like using Heroic launcher if you dont care for GOG or whatever the fuck ) then yeah it may not have any value for someone who doesn't give a shit.
>only old indies or older AAA
They're worse than they used to be particularly on AAA (as I said before, they need pressure to go back to the big name titles showing up a few months after launch) but they've done decently.

The crux of the issue is if that month is worth $8-10 ( if Classic; a little more for post-Choice accounts, $12 ) and usually it has been if you think you'd like at least 1 game per month, maybe more; the others become bonuses and can expose you to new stuff that turns out to be decent. If you don't give a shit or bought everything that month, you can pause and skip the month until you decide to resume (you can also just gift/sell keys you don't need) and still keep the stacking Store discount which is often the biggest discount you'll see from legit keysellers (ITAD listed etc). Still, that doesn't excuse them enshittifying certain features and adding more filler 'extras' like IGN subscriptions or some shit.

Raising the price makes the calculus less favorable (ie if I only want 1 game, and now it has to at least be $15 or more on sale to justify buying the Choice bundle that month, its harder etc) and they're shooting themselves in the dick raising the price without adding any value added features people want or fixing issues

You "own" the stuff from Humble. You don't rent it like you do on Goypass.

one of the reasons i keep skipping. i fucking hate seeing the origin or uplay logo in place of the steam logo.

Here's a truth nuke: you'll save more money buying whatever you want to play right now full price than spending thousands of dollars on "great deals" you'll never get around to actually playing.

Well, have you? Expedition 33, Oblivion remaster, Doom TDA and even Metaphor all in the span of one month. That's a pretty insane deal, and you won't see shit like this on Humble. You'll get some metroidvania/roguelike from 3 years ago instead lmao

>it is, i have skipped every month for over half a year at this point.
I have too, but there's a difference between subjective value to it being my type of game/interest vs if they were doing badly on pricing from an objective standpoint .T hey did one of the FIFA games awhile back as one of their big AAA things and even though it was normally selling for $60+ at the time, I don't care for those kinds of sports games or likewise for racing games, or certain kinds of grand strategy, so I skip. Likewise, if I already bought the couple of games that were of use to me that month, I skip as well. Someone else who didn't already have them or liked different titles for instance, may have picked it up.
>one of the reasons i keep skipping. i fucking hate seeing the origin or uplay logo in place of the steam logo.
this seems like something that enough feedback ought to get them to move upon, especially given that they have the volume to get those Steam keys issued.

>>713654819
Its entirely possible to buy stuff you want for the cheapest available, put other things of interest on you on the waitlist for sales or bundles etc. I can expect to pick up most titles for at least 20%+ off even for a AAA preorder by looking around a bit. For Humble, if I see one or two games of interest to me that were on a wishlist in a current month's bundle, then I buy provided the value of the games included is below that of what I could pick them up elsewhere, and get a bunch of other stuff included too that I can either play later or gift.

There are probably people acting like coupon clipping BUY AND SAVE BIG BABY social media tards, but there's no reason you should just buy the max price for everything instead of having a little self control , pick up the stuff you want the most/now for the cheapest possible at the moment, and wait on the rest to take advantage of deals. Otherwise its simply hand-rubbing, tiny hat benefit consumption behavior.
