>>713656341 (OP)RDR2 because it's a comfy slop game that promises depth but chickens out before doing anything drastic. The cores are annoying at worst, irrelevant at best. They aren't something you should build your gameplay around meaning that there's no incentive to hunt and craft and actually engage with the optional mechanics. They are mere set dressing for the artists to show their talents whether that includes long animations of eating food, skinning an entire animal or just a subtle sign of Arthur looking tired which is again, irrelevant to the gameplay.
Death Stranding could bore you with its exposition and story. Arguably, most of the cutscenes could be shaved off especially in the earlier acts where Kojima was still suffering from Drive 2011 syndrome where a silent character is observing his environment in a slow paced cutscene that adds nothing beyond atmosphere which was done better later on where you walk with indie music playing from his curated playlist.
Speaking of story, Death Stranding had more to say despite the zaniness of Japanese writing and the not so subtle naming where Die Hardman (his real name is John McClane) cries about being a hard person to kill which was an emotional moment for him but Sam dismiss it and tells him to toughen up because nobody wants a president who feels invincible. While RDR2 is desperately trying to sell Arthur as a martyr who redeemed himself just because he spammed the greeting button to a couple of NPCs when he discovered that he had wild west cancer.
