The main cause is leaving the Playstation 5 vertical instead of horizontal. Vertical position has a high chance of the liquid metal to drip down off the APU due to gravity. Tell everyone to put their PS5 in the horizontal position.

Nothingburger. Everyone was talking about how "if you place your PS5 in a standing up position it will die". Turns out this was true, but only for the ones that were opened for a repair. If you remove the heatsink for any reason, even under warranty then it will likely leak and die. My console has been standing upright for 4 years now (soon to be 5 at the end of December) and nothing has happened.

All my Sony consoles still work even after decades. Does this mean the PS5 will work decades later? I don't know, but they at least have a good track record of working properly for me.

However my Xboxes (OG and 360's) all gave me hardware problems with the 360 giving me the most issues. I also even have a 360 Slim and even that shit got RROD. Are the later Xbox consoles (One and Series) better? Perhaps, but I don't know since I don't own them. The Series X interests me a bit due to backwards compatibility but unless I get one for a great price I am just not going to buy one.

PS1 and PS2 are somewhat durable, I need to use both of them in a 45 degree angle for them to read games, but my PS3 slim overheats and shuts down playing almost anything and it was like that 2 years after launch. None of this is happening to any of my Playstations (1, 2 and 3). All work fine. Even played a ton of PS3 just last year after it being stored away for several years. You might want to start wrapping your consoles up to get more longevity out of them and keep dust and grime from decaying the systems.

It's the laser in PS1 and 2 specifically. Im surprised you don't know as it's extremely common practice to keep them tilted to keep em working. But yeah I'd still say the PS1 and 2 are durable since they still work, they are launch models too (day 1) and have been in extremely heavy use. No excuse for the PS3 slim to fail with how little I ever played it though

Old news but true. Don't put your ps5s vertical. Liquid metal sags which leads to some parts not being covered properly, which leads to overheating.
I use sag intentionally because on very few cases it's actually leaking, the liquid metal usually stays where it should but in an uneven distribution.
Overheating usually hits the psu or lan card first before the actual chips did.
But we alrdy knew that years ago. I made this post years ago...

I remember you faggots at PS5 launch spamming that video about the ssd getting "too hot" and claiming that all PS5s will die in 2 years.
Meanwhile, my launch PS5 is still working fine 4 years later.

>Everyone remembers RROD
>No one remembers the other console that had a 100% failure rate
This thing was such a piece of shit after a few years. The contacts inside the console would bend over time and eventually no amount of moving the cartridge, blowing on/cleaning the cartridge contacts, or reseting the console would get the cartridge to work.

Also really stupid that the problem could be mitigated and the console's useful lifespan extended by removing the cartridges so there was nothing in it when it wasn't being used, but of course Nintendo didn't bother to tell everyone that. Why do that when you can let the hardware fail and then get customers to shell out extra money for a replacement.

Actually that's not true. They only bend if you used the fame genie like a faggot, because that did bend the pins with the weird insertuon method it used. Just using normal cartridges doesn't hurt it.
Now, the lockout chip is a piece of shit, but thankfully that can be disabled. Keep your games clean and it won't be an issue.

I never used a Game Genie and my console was almost impossible to get working after 5-6 years. I tried cleaning the contacts with rubbing alcohol on a Q-tip and it didn't help.

It's real and we know of this since launch, bros itt even tell you what to do to prevent it. But I expect tendies are panicking and recycling old Ls from other consoles to divert attention because they can't imagine ppl just go "yeah what a fuck up, here do this and take care."

That's around the same time switch 2 owners have to repaste their units since they used the same cheap thermal paste as they did in the switch 1 that startes to dry out after 1.5 years, now exposed to much higher temps.
Tendies and snoys finally brought together by overheating.
