Every time I try to pick up Morrowind I do get to that first town (Telmura or some shit?) and turn around and go to the big city in the south. Then my eyes glaze over from all the dialogue and shitty side quests in that floating piece of shit and drop it.

Should I give it another shot and just avoid that place like that plague? Maybe treat it like New Vegas and go around the whole island so getting to the big city is kinda like a reward?

Spellmaking was a mistake and Todd did right in removing it. It kills any and all need for the flavor put into the dozens if not hundreds of handplaced spells throughout the entire game. The joy of finding a neat new spell or them being rewards at the end of dungeons or quests don't matter because you will always be able to create far superior ones that break the game in two

oh no the flavor of my handplaced drain fatigue for 5 pts which will surely give me the combat advantage over the enemy
at which fucking dungeon were spells ever a reward in vanilla
and in quests, sans the "not a necromancer" quest, spells are only ever a reward in telvanni questlines and even then they're still neat in spite of spellmaking because of the ridiculous enchants/magicka cost to effect. admit it, you still use Aryon's Helper, and he made that enchant at like age 12 canonically.
and don't act like shit like hearth heal isnt a good enough spell on its own that it carries you until like 60 restoration which is pretty late game if its at least a minor skill
unironically, you control the spells you make; so have some fucking restraint with your roleplaying. i'm already starting an ooga booga barbarian Nord right now where i forsake efficient leveling and i actually play the game, also trying out Ashfall for the first time

I get what you mean, and agree to an extent. But even in modded Skyrim where you can mod in way more spells that do all feel perfectly balanced across mage, thief, warrior, etc. The main gameplay route you interact with new spells is:
>Hit a new level breakpoint of 0/25/50/75/100
>Go to the college
>Buy all the new spells you want
>Come back when you get to a new breakpoint
It just becomes a soft-gold dump. You never find any meaningful spells in dungeons unless it's a spell you specifically get from a modded dungeon which may be broken compared to the spell mod pack you have installed. I remember the modpack I had, had a fairly balanced blood cloak spell with moderate range and damage, but then I found a version from the Bruma mod that basically has 10x the range and 5x the damage for less cost.

The issue with Morrowind is challenge. There's nothing in the vanilla game that requires all the OP shit you can make via spellmaking and enchanting and the path to that power is fairly easy. that's where mods that add more endgame challenges and make leveling slower/less powerful come into play.

>elves in most games are alright, nothing special
>elves in elder scrolls are the most superficial depiction of elves despite the "deep lore" describing them as spirits bound in flesh and divided from Aetherius with a long history of being retarded assholes
And to top it all off, they're ugly. Not in a genuinely grotesque way, but just plain goofy with their bat ears, stretched skin, extreme brow geometry, and disgusting skin that comes in two shades (piss yellow/concrete). How did bethesda fuck up so hard? As if that weren't enough, they made dwarves a different flavor of retarded elf.

Anonymous No.713672546 [Report]

Early in development the map used to end at the river that separates Great Plains from New Austin, so the Epilogue was only the Blackwater/Beecher's Hope piece of land. New Austin was quite literally added only for the Online, which is why it's half-assed, some of its content was half designed to work with Arthur and only one single mission leads you down there (one of the Sadie bounties which could've easily taken place somewhere else early on). It's all the more ironic given RDO utterly failed and was abandoned by R*.

Fog and slower movement, paired with absolutely masterful world design. The way the map subtly switchbacks, especially on the foyadas makes the most of small space, as well as key placement of points of interest. On top of that, no instant fast travel makes a huge difference.

I read somewhere that vampirism has to do with binding your soul to a lesser daedra in oblivion or some crap.
also explain to me how that cure in morthal of skyrim works? I am still befuddled to this day.

elves are supposed to look like they have weirdly colored human skin stretched over a bug's skull. they are not the same as you. the uncanny valley is intentional.
Anonymous No.713678660 [Report] >>713679125
>>713678331
vampirism was created when Molag Bal raped a nedic virgin into a coma and left a drop of his blood on her forehead
it is implied he did the same to the other direct vampires like the Harkons
vampirism spreads and dilutes from that point as diseases that are spread by being bitten or clawed by an existing vampire
vampire's souls belong to Molag and go to Coldharbour when they die

so it has nothing to do with putting a parasitic daedra's spirit in your body or necromancy in general?
I know that zombie necromancy is forcing a dreaming dead soul awake against its wishes by using conjuration magic.

might be confusing it with Morrowinds "Ash Vampires" which aren't actual vampires, but are technically blighted undead resurrected and empowered by Dagoth Ur
Anonymous No.713679781 [Report]

no I get how ash vampires and zombies/skeletons/bonelords and whatnot work. these two groups I get. I just have comepletely forgotten the lore behind vampires. I know the lamae bal thing. but I swear to Alma-chan that I read somewhere vampirism is just being bound to some lesser daedra who will parasitically consume whatever you send its way from magic, your sanity and other people's vitality. in return keeping you alive and awake in the mortal nirn. I swear I read this somewhere. I just cant remember what was the process of "curing" vampirism and what was done to the lesser daedra and your soul during this process. I just cant remember it. I know that it had a theme of both the daedra and the vampire being pathetic in this relationship as its molag bal's domain and everyone is to be humiliated.

>they are not the same as you.
But Men and Mer practically are the same thing. The difference between them isn't like different species, more like the same species with different tribes who split off. The word "human" in TES means both Man and Mer and they can interbreed meanwhile the beast races can't.
Anonymous No.713683801 [Report]
>>713681957
pretty sure the ehlnofey were two groups
one was on nirn and one arrived a long time later and the fight between them caused the continents.
thats why they used to have mechs and shieet. but now dont.
I know one continent has tsaeci, one got redguards and one got giant nords. have no idea where bretons and imperials come from though. but the rest of the land was altmer, with dunmer and orsimer coming from them, one through azura and the other through trinimac/malacath.
khajiit is also a mystery. is it mer? is it like argonians who are just animals forcefully evolved? (argonians relate to hist trees which are ancient race like elhnofey but they were neutral to the ehlnofey civil war)
wood elves are literal carnivorous beasts who got glamor magic to mingle with other cultures. literal elf niggers. and the glamor magic only bothered to make their females gorgeos.
thats why the bosmer are always so goofy. like adoring fan in oblivion and the bosmer mages in morrowind being dressed like this.
I swear they made exquisite clothing just to make the bosmer wear goofy clothes. thats why they didnt even bother to make exquisite gloves. wasnt even addressed by expansions. no mod that fixes it either.
