Overall, good, but Chris Avellone REALLY misunderstood the universe, what "balance of the Force" means, you can't fight Kreia on her more insane ideas, and it feels like a wet fart of an ending. It's funny to me that this game gets so much praise regarding writing over KOTOR1 when KOTOR2 has far less memorable party members, the villains are more one-dimensional than Malak, and Jolee Bindo was able to get across the idea regarding ambiguity regarding the usage of the Force in about 1/20 of the time Kreia goes on harping about it.

Kreia is well written. She's also nuts.

Same goes for everyone writing Star Wars, its inconsistent even between the OT and Prequels.

He at least admits that (if you're light side) everything he believed in the Sith was a lie and wondered if their places had been switched that he'd have turned out like Revan.

Yeah. It's not a lot, but he does have more dimension that Darth Hungry-boi and Darth Angry-Rock.

There's also the fact that the rest of the game outside of Kreia is dogshit. Nearly all the hub worlds have fuckall quests and basically no story.

Telling me that I'm supposed to care about an uprising I had a grand total of 30 minutes to learn about? Hilarious.

Not that it's Obsidian's fault, they got rushed to release, but fuck me if it isn't inferior to KOTOR 1 in basically every way beyond the (pretentious) character of Kreia.

KOTOR 1's dogshit writing kills it. It's unplayable if you have even bare minimum standards. The player character dialogue options are some of the most embarrassing shit ever written for Star Wars. Mass Effect is the far superior BioWare game.

Companion routes were definitely unfinished. I haven't played the game in like fifteen years but I know for certain there were scenes like Hanharr sacrificing himself to save the Exile on Malachor if your affinity with him was high enough and HK interfering in the confrontation between Remote and G0-T0 (his allegiance would have been decided by your choices on the cut droid factory planet).

I wish the combat was harder. Kotor 1's difficulty curve seems much better tuned, early game in 1 I'm actually using stims and grenades to survive tougher battles, where in 2 you can snowball extremely early and turn the game into hitting the "I win" button over and over

I'm not saying 1's quest and world design was peak or anything, but at least there was SOMETHING to each planet that was semi-unique or interesting. Manaan's underwater base, Dantooine's Sand Raiders, Korriban's Sith Academy, each planet at least tried to present something different to the player, compared to 2's nothing. Not even bad stuff, just nothing.

If 2 didn't have the admittedly interesting character of Kreia and some neat lore bits, no one would really care about it.
