The problem is that some games simply aren't designed to handle all of the gameplay in their client, most notably MMOs, where server does most of the job managing mobs and environment and such, and trying to cram all that into the client would mean redoing a big portion of the game logic from scratch. I should guess stuff like MOBAs would be easier in that regard since there's a lot less going on, but it's still an additional workload fir what is essentially a side mode.
