So he just arbitrarily doesn’t allow official merch of certain Deltarune characters because it doesn’t “feel right”? What does that even mean?

The game is not fully out yet so some characters might change (become villains and so on)

Either that Lightners can't be toys because they're people, only Darkners can since they're objects, or since he puts something important inside the plushes for each one, what's inside the characters he won't make merch of would spoil the game.

Makes perfect sense. A character getting merch now is a kind of spoiler in itself, denoting this or that character as ’important’, and in a future chapter certain characters might change in presentation, changing the context the merch exists in. Toby doesn’t *need* to merchandise everything like he’s an anime studio, so he doesn’t if he sees potential downsides to it.

it's 100% this since he literally used "seeing what's inside kris" as an example, it's definitely SOUL-related, especially because of the fact it's specifically kris, susie and noelle. susie will probably get kris' soul as kris loses it, and noelle has a part of it inside her during snowgrave
