Assuming you’re pro NCR or just anti-Legion, why shouldn’t Joshua Graham be killed immediately? Isn’t killing him justice? People kill Oliver Swanick for far less.

I don't kill Swanick either, I use console commands to recruit him as a disposable follower a-la the NCR radio trooper.

if you kill everyone who has ever done bad things, even if they fully repent, why would anyone ever stop being evil? you need to give people some clemency if you dont want all your enemies to fight to the bitter end and then some.

i tried the oliver swanick companion mod which i expected to just be a very barebones shitpost mod but it's actually hilarious how much effort's gone in to it, the dude never shuts the fuck up, comments on everything you do, everywhere you go, basically won't go 30 seconds without talking, and it's never particularly funny but it's so unfunny it becomes funny
feel like the dude really captured the spirit of swanick

calm down you seething autist. if you think people need to pay for their sins with death even if they are turning a new leaf then thats fine. i was trying to introduce a thought experiment where you can make a moral choice that ultimately leads to less suffering overall even if you cant satisfy your need for justice to perhaps make you reflect, but i cam see introducing such hypotheticals to you is about as useful as asking a nigger how he would feel if he didnt eat breakfast.

at least mormons have a solution to the evidential problem of evil. christians lack an answer so they just propose you submit to authority and accept it without question.

also, mormons are usually quiet about it, but you should know they have some pretty spicy beliefs like becoming gods in their own right themselves through him.

they consider some things to be coeternal with god. youre right to feel dissatisfied with that, but dont all religions ultimately require blind submission of you poke enough holes at them? at least mormons have a sayisfying answer to injustice and excessive suffering, which i find more emotionally appealing than reflecting on the metaphysics of god.

Agree to disagree I guess. I find Christ's condescension into our suffering as a sufficient answer, as well as the eventual restoration of the world in the second coming.

thats why i speak of the evidential problem of evil. you could make a case for human suffering ultimately enabling greater good (although i feel that too is shaky when ie. a child gets leukemia). instead consider a deer suffering horrific burns after a narurallynoccuring forest fire in a remote wilderness. a deer is not a moral agent, and humans arent the cause or even the observers, and deers in general do not possess the intelligence to learn from this tragedy. usually christians have to do some pretty serious acrobatics to fit such an example of excessive, seemingly pointless suffering with an omnibenevolent, omnipotent god. ive discussed this with christians before and ultimately the answer is to ultimately just trust god blindly, and that's that.

So you're more concerned with natural evils? I might be in the minority here, but in my eyes a proper eschatology requires a complete restoration of the created world, including of nature. That deer will be in Heaven.

At the end of the day though it all does kinda fall back onto trust, I won't dispute that. There are other things that made me a believer before I even considered these issues.

im concerned with excessive suffering and tragedy where it isnt needed and doesnt provide a chance for relevant moral growth. thomas aquinas answered the logical problem of evil well enough, i am satisfied with the idea that the existence of SOME evil ultimately enables greater good.

Providing clemency to your enemies foments unrest in your own civilization. You can't make everybody happy numbnuts, you can only pick the enemies you want to make.
