>>713699312 (OP)If there's three rungs of 'gamers', Kojima makes games for the bottom rung.
The top rung are people who actually play videogames regularly, have multiple games in their catalogues, and value primarily gameplay and engaging fun.
The middle rung includes a lot of console gamers, who only play videogames every so often, and are mostly concerned about being entertained; thus they're ok with movie games, because a ten minute cutscene is as entertaining as ten minutes of gameplay to them.
Then youve got the Kojima rung. People who barely play videogames if at all. They can't describe why the games they like (MGS/Death Stranding) are actually good, but they claim they're masterpieces. They love the idea that everything in the games is cheesy and corny, because to them it somehow signals that by appreciating it they understand Kojima and are of a higher intelligence. They couldn't care less if the game was a literal movie, or if the gameplay was so dry you only pressed one button every hour, because they have no actual criteria for good gameplay.
