True, Japanese games peaked from 2000 to 2010, but that was the peak of vidya anyway

It doesn't require a lot of brainpower to understand this is poison to efficiency.

thats not happening until japan defaults on its loans, mass starvation happens, millions of people are killed and they finally go through a language reform that allows kids to save few thousand hours of studying japanese and go onto doing more interesting things

Nips still have ridiculous poor grasp of english, even in places like brazil people know that you need more than one language for advanced computer stuff.

This redditor has a point. Why don't the Japs don't get on board with the modern pipeline: 200 pajeets cooking in Unreal 5, and blue-haired trannies designing the interface and writing the script?

Japanese culture has an autistic obsession as well for not improving a standing product for real but instead making an iterative sequel or rerelease which is why so many fighting series didn't get rollback netcode until their modern releases

I worked outside contractor QA on a capcom project back in the 2010s. They had no idea what occlusion culling was (the technique where things not in the field of view are not rendered, optimizing performance in visual heavy games quite a bit). They're incredibly behind

So western devs have the tools but not the vision, and Japanese devs have the vision but not the tools. Then the European devs are somewhere in the middle.

jesus, no we don't want all this cancerous network infrastructure that shitty ass Western games have. We don't need your item server, your daily login, your twitch drops, your battlepass, ranked matchmaking etc etc.

A game like Nightreign does it perfectly fine. You can play online with others and guess what? You can even play the game OFFLINE. If this was a Western release, I GUARANTEE you offline would not even be an early consideration.

It's true. They wanted to systematize the combat animation states in Nier Automata and had it all ready to go until the Lead Combat designer decided it was too automated and he handpicked and tweaked all the combat-states manually.

Stuff like, "If you jump, it should cancel run animation".

It's nicely curated but ruins the entire point of using it as a system for potential sequels or additional combat characters.

Those are just design choices. That has nothing to do with networking. If we wanna talk about fromsoft we could go for days about their shitty netcode and how their regional matchmaking consists solely of "Japan/Everyone else"

asians are awful at this for some reason.
I recently tried the Mecha Break beta and for some reason they have REGION SPECIFIC accounts and matchmaking for what is just a simple 6v6 pvp game. We're in fucking 2025 you should be dynamically matching players by ping or something, if the game ever dies in my region then I have to go make an NA account and lose all my progression.

Japanese website design is based though. Feels like Japan stayed back in the mid 2000s and never felt the need to try and bloat the fuck out of their shit. There are tons of sites today that still seem to be designed around viewing it on an old 4:3 800x600 monitor.

>A game like Nightreign does it perfectly fine.
Nightreign was shitting the bed once or twice an hour all afternoon yesterday and even kept doing it after 6pm when the content dropped. Every time the server flinched, literally everybody playing would have their 30-45 minute run destroyed, without even getting pity rewards like if they had gotten a gameover.

So no, Nightreign is a perfect example of Jap network shit being absolute dogshit.

It's not caused by arcade developers, it's caused by very bad ability to read English (basically making the reverse of PS2 when the JP devs could just read the manual and the western devs had to figure everything on their own) and the nature of game programming being a job for amateur hobbyists.
A JP Sw Engineer for vidya is a 20-30 year old dude who studied Art design and created a doujin game in high school/early 20s to get the job.
He'll inevitably run away into a "real job" once he becomes 30 and has to provide for himself.

Codemonkey autists have no idea of what is really essential. They are soulless automatons that need to be kept on a short leash.
