When's the last time you enjoyed playing a dancing minigame?

Probably Yakuza 0. That disco minigame had no business being that much fun. The ridiculous animations, the neon-soaked 80s vibes, and Kiryu’s completely serious face while busting moves absolutely killed me. Honestly, I’d play a full rhythm game built around that mechanic.

Legend of Legaia is easily a top 3 JRPG for the PS1 yet the reviews at the time call it such a mid game. They didn't know how good they had it.

>Worldbuilding that actually ties present to past
>Story has depth with comedy and tragedy
>Literally any scene involving Songi
>The armor you wear is shown on your character in battle
>Pokemon-like collection mechanic used for summons
>Does the "your village burned down" trope in a clever way
>Lets you choose the protagonist's goal for the epilogue
>Protagonist FUCKS
>Killer soundtrack
>Characters die
>JRPG fights that are more interesting than attack/defend/summon

I could keep going.

It's really a great game. Also has superbosses and is challenging in general. I replayed recently with emulation and it made grinding super simple because I would just speed up everything and hold the button down. Fucked that super boss up.

The arena was also really fun to participate in. Game had a lot going for it, extras and all.

I never played the second Legaia but I hear it doesn't live up to the first. I might still try it one day soon.

Based and truth pilled
It's a shame Legaia is such an obscure game nowadays, Almost no one knows it exist.

>I never played the second Legaia

My little brother beat it, but I only played it for a bit. From what I remember it had nothing to do with the first one in terms of storytelling.

It's a tradeoff where everything that made the first one good (worn armor shown on character, worldbuilding, characters, etc) was scaled back while the combat itself was marginally improved.

It felt like one of those situations where the game itself was some other property, then during production they slapped the Legaia 2 name on it and gave the protagonist a similar haircut for marketing purposes. Not an awful game by any means, but its existence only drags down LoL.
