Both Asgore and the show got divorced/cancelled
The Tenna replaced the old black and white TV but ended up with Asgore where he probably watches the old reruns on the few channels it can pick up. The Tv/show has probably seen Asgore talk to his flowers, about his family and what really happened in the past. We follow the teachers instructions to go to the Dark World, work to make sure Kris makes it out alive while making some friends along the way...or beating people if we're more Susie inclined. By the end of Normal and Snowgrave, we will find reasons to dislike Susie and Noelle.

The levels in the light world will come back at some point. This plays into the idea that the light world is a layer of fiction in its own right.

Kris has been to dark worlds before. This is not new for him.
Everything in Chapter 1 was curated to a certain degree I believe because Kris has done the normal path before and it ended badly. This time he took Susie instead of Noelle.

The Knight is clearly not a normal Lightner. No other Lightner to ever enter the Dark World goes through the transformation or gains the powers it does, not even Gerson changes that dramatically.
