is there seriously no way to change the controls for death stranding 2 so it plays like death stranding 1? I can't even use accessibilities because crouch and hold breath are now the same button. at least I could switch square with circle and r1 with l1 but it still feels very wrong. I really hope they add a classic control scheme soon because as it stands now I seriously can't play it like this.

Buddy, listen to me; I was upset too. I was playing DS1 hours up until I tried DS2. I was fucking livid they changed the perfect controlscheme. There's a reason they changed it, and it's because they added functionality where you need to be able to do X function and Y at the same time, and if they're both on the same side of the controller that makes shit hard to manage. Just trust the system, Kojima has THE TIGHTEST CONTROLS taste of anyone in the industry. It gets better, practice makes perfect. Yes I hate that reload, crouch, odredek and long press to get into inventory menu are all fucked up, but after 48 hours of playing I'm fine with it.

I seriously hate it, square should always be attack.

If you want an example, you can equip a gun while driving now and you use R1 to shoot, which allows L1 to scan instead of forcing you to relearn that the left side buttons fire guns from your right hand.

Heard. But two days of moderate playing and I'm getting stuff rewired in my brain. I wish I could swap what you just mentioned too but I think there's yet more functions I haven't discovered that justify the change. I tell you, it's for a reason.

If you REALLY want to change things, get an EDGE controller and have profiles where these are swapped. Two button presses to swap between saved custom profiles thanks to the function buttons. I love this thing, because I hate not being able to drive with one hand, so I programmed my left back button to be R2 and the right as Triangle for quick picking up packages while you ride.

Trust Hideo.

I already have square and circle swapped but now cancel is square in the menu, I might try to just play default controls but I can't express this enough: square should always and I mean fucking always be attack. I actively ignore any and all games that don't have melee mapped to square, if I had known that they changed this I honestly don't know if I would have picked it up. I loved ds1 but I'm actually contemplating just dropping it until an update that allows for an alt control scheme. it's seriously hurts my hand the way the controls are. a bit of background I fractured my hand years ago in several places when I was doing a survey for work.

My advice is that you should play default. I don't think he would've done it willy nilly nor forget that he's always had square attacking.

BTW you don't have to equip strand unless you want to parry, you can still come up behind someone and rope them with a single Circle input. In hindsight that might be why he made circle attack.

yeah I really don't know, I'll play it for a few hours but if it keeps up I'll just drop it and wait for an update

lmao game's fucking amazing; if you think you have the willpower to wait nor do you care about building those sweet sweet roads/bridges before everyone else, then have at you.

Good luck, Sam. You got this!

Im stuck in DS1, in the snow region for some reason I don't have ANY orders or jbectives, the last thing I remember was the game telling me to "find a way to hlp peopple in mountain knot city" or something like that. It happens after the WW1 part.
