But even if they're culturally relevant games (and of good or even great quality) they don't come anywhere close to the status of the stuff that was regularly pumped in the 90s and the 2000s.
The only real landmark achievement in the video game industry in the late 2010s was RDR2, which was the second biggest entertainment launch of all time, across all mediums (behind GTA V). It definitely left a cultural impact and will probably go down as a really important game in history, but it goes to show how completely fucking dry the AAA scene is – i.e it's completely fucking dead in the water until Rockstar does something.
Eveyone knows this already, but it's a bleak era for vydia.
