tranime won which is grimy
>>713767378 (OP)Reminds me of that time demon slayer outsold literally the entire western comic book industry
>>713767378 (OP)You should put the Bible in the fiction section
I remember buying one volume of dbz and having to stretch that for months. Kinda jelly how good kids have it nowadays but its nice to see.
What the hell are graphic novels
>>713767378 (OP)it's nice they're in there, but it's gay they're so overpriced.
they want +$30 for a volume sometimes, where in any Japanese shop a volume could be like 500 yen.
>watched anime as a kid
>read manga as a young adult
>only listen to audio books/recaps as a old man
Who has the energy to sit down and read/watch something anymore?
>>713767676People just lump in all American/Eurocomics as "graphic novels" now, but in reality they're one story released and published altogether as opposed to a trade paperback which is a compilation of individually released issues.
>>713767378 (OP)Better to read manga over pozzed slop
>>713767676school euphemism for comics
>>713767676It's the grown up phrase for comic book.
>>713767676Comics for sophisticated people.
>>713767676You know how novels exist
Now imagine... if they had... images to them
That's it.
>>713767612in the trash where they belong
>>713767378 (OP)Manga is the only shit that is selling since it functions as both collector item and serial franchise for continual sales.
People don't read books anymore, or at least, zoomfaggots don't have the attention span for it.
>>713767742I read a couple of chapters every night in bed to put me to sleep, otherwise I wouldn't read at all.
>>713767676the gayest, most degenerate pozzed tranny bullshit you can imagine. the artwork looks like it belongs on the side of a van circa 1980 and the writing is pure trash. absolutely unsurprising that the medium is dead.
it's like if Veilguard were a picture book.
>>713767676Basically comic books that are sold in volumes and usually have a paperback cover. Structured like novels as well. By comparison, comics are around maybe 12 pages long and sold in plastic bags usually in a magazine stand.
>>713767895That's just not true, it's the same comic book stuff as manga.
>>713767378 (OP)The only 'newish' part about that is the Manga section getting bigger. The bigger large chain bookstores in the US used to have sizeable Graphic Novel sections already where comic anthology stuff was kept back in the 2000's.
I think people have understated the popularity of graphic novels because shit like Watchmen, Tank Girl, and Scott Pilgrim all sold insanely well. However, I went to my son's book fair at an elementary school and a large chunk was dedicated to manga and graphic novels. If it gets kids to read, it's fine.
>>713767676Comics but longer.
Comics are just 10 pages or some shit, graphic novels are books made into pictures for the sperg.
>>713767378 (OP)1 corner of a bookstore(?) devoted to Anime and comic books means the west has fallen?
>>713767943Zoomers absolutely read, just zoomer women. Since books nowadays don't appeal to men in the slightest zoomer men end up reading utter slop self-help garbage from grifting faggots from tiktok.
>>713767943>People don't read books anymoredepends on the demo, every single 25-40 year old woman is reading fantasy smut and tiktoking about it, it's the hot new thing.
