I'm mostly just curious to see how long it'll take for them to pull the trigger and put melee on there
like is that a move they pull around the holiday season to massively boost subs or is it something they hold in their back pocket for an exceptional content drought
i'm not even a meleefag but I feel like it's an inevitability and nintendo's too smart to just randomly drop it in some random august direct

No, the ones that they showed weren't in the order they'll be added, but if they do the same thing they did with previous new console additions, they're going to add all the ones they showed before adding anything else.

We kind of already knew Strikers would be first because the Treehouse stream they did showing off the NSO Gamecube app had Strikers on it.

Looks like Dr. Mario 64 isn't on NSO, so I'd imagine Nintendo Puzzle Collection. I also have a hard time imagining very many third parties would be willing to add their GC lineups when they could still get away with doing remasters of them across all platforms, like Skies of Arcadia.

>I also have a hard time imagining very many third parties would be willing to add their GC lineups when they could still get away with doing remasters of them across all platforms, like Skies of Arcadia.
Third parties are often too lazy to port games for a remaster. For NSO they can just license the game to Nintendo and they'll do all the legwork.
There was also the odd thing with N64 NSO where several games that already had Switch remasters were added just because. Easy money for the publisher I guess.
I wonder if we'll see any of the other 007 games, or if jumping through hoops to license them was only worth it for the original GoldenEye.

In terms of first party titles only:

Nothing stopping a release:
>Battalion Wars
>Custom Robo
>Doshin the Giant (no NA release, but PAL release should suffice)
>GiFTPiA (JP only)
>Kirby Air Ride
>Kururin Squash! (JP only, but knowledge of Japanese isn't needed)
>The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
>Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour
>Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
>Mario Party 4-7 (6 & 7 have microphone support, but it's fully optional)
>Mario Power Tennis
>Mario Superstar Baseball
>Star Fox Adventures
>Star Fox Assault
>Wario World
>Wave Race: Blue Storm

Could go either way:
>Animal Crossing (no way to visit other people's towns on Nintendo's emulator)
>Cubivore (Atlus/SEGA owns publishing rights in the west)
>Donkey Kong Jungle Beat (bongo controller, standard controller is compatible but clearly not the game's intended input method)
>Eternal Darkness (M-rated app would be needed)
>Geist (M-rated app would be needed)
>Nintendo Puzzle Collection (JP only, no Japanese knowledge needed, Dr. Mario 64 is already on N64 app for the west)
>Pokémon Channel (would need approval from whoever owns the rights to the anime part of Pokémon)
>Super Smash Bros. Melee (as >>713784838 says, they'd need to re-clear the sound effects)
>WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Party Game$ (port of a GBA game already on the GBA app)

Not happening:
>1080° Avalanche (licensed music)
>DDR: Mario Mix (dance mat controller, would require Konami's approval)
>Donkey Konga 1-3 (bongo controller, licensed music)
>The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures (no GBA connectivity on Nintendo's emulator, using a standard controller limits you to single player)
>Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (a remaster would be a better investment)
>Odama (microphone required)
>Any game that already has a Switch remaster (Baten Kaitos, Metroid Prime, Pikmin, etc.)

>Doshin the Giant (no NA release, but PAL release should suffice)
IIRC it's officially 50Hz only and needs to be hacked to run at 60. But maybe they'd say fuck it since the screen can lower to 50Hz, or maybe they'd hack it themselves.
>Pokémon Channel (would need approval from whoever owns the rights to the anime part of Pokémon)
I was thinking that might be an issue, but it occurs to me Pokemon Puzzle League is on NSO and also had anime cutscenes, so maybe it's not that hard for them to license.
>Odama (microphone required)
The Switch 2 has a built-in microphone, there's no real reason they can't use it to emulate the GameCube microphone. They've previously emulated niche hardware like Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble's accelerometer for the Game Boy NSO app.
