The whole time, I was anticipating some kind of cleverness or intrigue to be coming up, because the groundwork for each arc would genuinely bring up some interesting questions and get me speculating, only for the dumbest and most boring outcome to always be the path they took. After The Saint of Killers kills the angel, I stopped speculating and always assumed the lamest shit was upcoming, and I was never surprised going forward.
By the way, if you want the themes and sheer violence of The Boys, but handled well, with a proper deconstruction of Superhero fiction and a satisfying arc. Read Luther Strode. It's so much fucking better it's insane.
