Asylum has the best atmosphere and is just the best concept of the three. It is also the greatest creative achievement as it sets the foundation for the whole trilogy.

City is Asylum but with more bloat, a worse villain and a more stupid setting.

Knight has the best gameplay by far and the graphics were insane at the time but the poor story, the Ubislop world design and the comical overuse of the Batmobile make it the worst overall package.

Can rocksteady update Asylum to use 64bit physX or something? Playing Asylum sucks now since you can't get physX to work anymore, there were so many sections where they put those banners/fog clouds/papers front and center to show off physX but now they're just missing unless you have an old GPU laying around that still supports this shit. Oh and good luck getting it to work if you're on steamdeck/linux even if you have a compatible GPU.

Betwen the fuckery of false advertising about how you needed to get the Catwoman DLC to understand the fully story (hint: she got caught stealing things from Two-Face so he found her, big deal right)? and the whole 'JOKER I LOVE YOU I MUST FIND YOU THO THE CITY IS BEING DESTROYED', the utter fuckery of the plot falling apart multiple times, the whole 'let's just put as much shit in as possible without logic to the story' and of course, who can forget the classic HILARIOUS if you will, meme of 'le hecking epic 404 trophies'
Origins isn't bad but locking some upgrades behind story progression was gay
Asylum gets by on the fact of the story and setting, even if the combat and stealth isn't that good

Story is debatable. Its darker than the other two which depending on the person could be better or worse.

Honorable mention to arkham shadow the vr game. The combat in that game is the most fun over of any of the non vr ones. Manually throwing batarangs, doing cape stuns, shooting the bat claw in combat, is so incredibly fun and completely exhausting.

The part of Catwoman basically bieng pointless? Perhaps the Joker being prime target 1 despite you know, him being a pointless character? Or perhaps you liked the fuckery of Ra's showing up? What about Batman and Freeze both being blind to the fucking assassin in front of them making a shit load of noise? Was it the iceberg longue? Or perhaps the gotham police station? The fact it took nearly 10 fucking hours of Batman working out 'the giant blimps that we never see may perhaps be something to look at'?

Origins is my favourite even if it isn't the best because it's literally the only game with good bosses, I fucking love the deathstroke fight. Also they actually do banes character justice in this game which is rare. I also kind of love the whole snowy atmosphere. The map traversal and gliding is a fucking chore though, especially that big fucking factory stuck in the middle of the map which you, for some reason, can't just glide through and have to go around every time.

Arkham struck like a bolt of lightning due to being a good fucking batman game, and overall good action game.

City was just a perfect sequel with a good plot and much more stuff than in Arkham.

It's hard to pick but I'd have to go with City. Still, Arkham is my most replayed bamham due to the combat being like crack on the hardest difficulty (and spiced with some mods).

You really do. Its sooooooo much better than i thought it would be. The story is whatever. But the gameplay is incredible for how well it carries over the arkham systems. The predator stuff is also perfect. You fucking toggle detective vision by bringing your hand up to your head and pressing the trigger. The jammer works how you think. The smoke bomb is stored in your gauntlet so you have to manually grab it from your left wrist and throw it. Batarang you need to grab from your chest.
Even the prying the vent covers off the wall is done manually. Its wild

Probably one of the later ones since you might not be able to play them with that Donkey Kong bongo controller (or at least play them well) but the series is the epitome of "games for people who hate video games" that it doesn't really matter.
