Robocop is my favourite movie, had it on VHS when I was a kid. The game is shit, in all honesty. The gun is weak as fuck, the enemies are bullet sponges, the aiming is terrible, its a slow and plodding corridor shooter, the bad guys are silly. The bits where you write parking tickets or trudge around the station collecting signatures for a "get well" card (not joking) are fucking pointless.

Take everything that made the Robocop movie awesome, his deadly gun, blasting through a drug factory with lethal precision, the quotable badguys, the cynical satire and crazy violence...and just throw it all away to make some awkward, boring shooter. Tbf to the devs it feels like their hearts were in the right place with getting Weller onboard, but other than that they didnt even get the sound of his gun right.

It's like being a big fan of the original movie, then trying to watch the goofy tv show. That being said, if you're a fan of the tv show and have never seen the original movie, you might like it.

Played the first mission and found it kinda disappointing that enemies just run towards you to die. They don't take cover or do anything reactive. Kinda feels like I'm playing a game from early 2000s.

Definitely. It has nice methodical shooting (your default gun can be modified and human enemies limbs can be shot off, so do the math), levelling Robo's skills is fun and makes some difference, the side activities are funny and the whole game overall is pretty well written and follows the original's tone quite closely. I'd say devs should've added more hub areas instead of just one Downtown and Police Precinct, as well as give some more Robocop-specific weapons like machinegun-hand (or at least they should've let us tear ED-209 gun arm out) but I had my fun nonetheless.

No it doesnt, by wearing a welding mask enemies can somehow tank a volley of auto 9 rounds into the chest, if you manage to land a volley. I dont understand how Call of Duty has better aim assist than Robocop, its far easier to just unload a full clip into the scenery in Robocop, when really the aim assist should be perfect in Robocop.

>is it worth buying/playing
It costs less than a cup of shitty coffee at Starbucks. Buy it on that basis alone.

But in general, you should buy it if:
>you like simple FPS games with good, chunky shooting
>you like gore
>you like urban decay settings
>you like Robocop 1 and Robocop 2

I've beaten it twice. It's the most faithful without being obnoxious movie-based game I've ever played. Watch both movies before you start playing, even if you've seen the films before.

And some pro tips:
>enemies can be killed much quicker with head or dick shots
>invest in the 'better XP gains' thing ASAP, but ONLY if you plan to do a lot of exploration
>don't forget to upgrade your gun when that system unlocks, and stay up to date on it
>some walls can be sprinted through/meleed, but the game does a shit job of telling you sometimes
And the ED-209 boss fight fucking sucks, but you can cheat it by hiding behind crates

I found more effective keeping really close to this fucker, triggering his melee attack, walk back a bit and repeat while shotting non-stop. Also, rocket launcher is really effective. Too bad I've found this out during the final encounter.

it's a 7/10 game at best pretty dry and less fun than movies as it has a lot of downtime and filler between shooting and cutscenes but still better than their terminator game.
For $5 it's 100% worth it if you like those movies. Hopefully dlc will be more action based this time and provide some difficulty even on normal/hard as base game was too easy outside of that single mech boss battle.

Me too. Having heads, arms and dicks literally explode and one-shot most of the enemies was like reliving the bery best shootouts from the movie. Also, ricochetting wall are surprisingly fun to use. And shooting bikers off their vehicles in bullet time felt very satisfying. Hinestly, I had more fun with this game than most of the others I had put my hands on last year.

That would be amazing. But for now there's a stand-alone exapnsion for the Robocop game with a premise that's fairly similar to the Cark Urban Dredd film. And hey, they've done Terminator before. Why not giving Robocop vs Terminator a spin (the music and "EXCELLENT" voice que from the Genesis game are permanently burned into my brain, btw).

Not sure how well that would work since John Spartan doesn't really have any gimmicks beyond 'I'm a guy with a gun,' unlike Robocop who can mod his body and shit.

>other franchises

I'd love to see them do a Dredd game, which maybe they're trying to get by making this new Robocop DLC.

If they could make the shooting a bit snappier, I'd love them to make a Commando game where it's just you butchering goons for three or four hours and it costs $20-$30.

I remembered having trouble hitting their heads because they were driving too erratically, so, while running from one cover to another, I just tried punching/grabbing, and it worked. Punching is so satisfying, because it properly lays out almost every enemy in a single hit, just like in the movie.

Then, I picked up the guy's bike and threw it at another biker.

Have you played the game? You can:

>shoot off limbs (arms/legs/hands/heads)
>blow bodies into paste with explosives
>cause bloodstains on any surface near someone getting shot
>continue to shoot people with automatic weapons after they die, and get extra bullet damage on the bodies

They were clearly trying to stay as faithful to the film as they could manage in the engine without going full retard and making Soldier of Fortune 2.

>>713814298
The open world area has questions you can find and discover and these quests change every time you go back. The 'parking tickets' thing is just a mini optional thing that's part of the game's pseudo-morality system.

Anon, the main characters from the film (that are in the game) are:
>Alex Murphy (white guy, but arguably just a corpse now)
>Lois (white woman, your partner)
>Sarge (the black guy at the police station)

Game characters of note include:
>black rookie cop
>white OCP stooge (the pseudo-villain)
>main villain (white guy)
>police tech guy (white guy)
>Old Man (white guy)
>street informant (white guy)
>main gang leaders (white guys)

I even collected all the contraband things and still steamrolled through the game on hard mode. I think there may have been 1 or 2 parts where I died and had to restart. the rest was just plowing through enemies with a gun that doesn't need to reload (cos I had the gun mod that you can pick up).

If you've platinumed it, then you've likely played for 10+ hours, which means you more than got your money's worth for a $40 game. And you've also effectively proven there is a decent amount of content in the game, even if the absolute baseline mechanic (shoot people) isn't revolutionary.

>it's on rails
Yes, it's got a linear story, like almost every other singleplayer FPS campaign out there. Except Rogue City has the open world elements to break up the corridor shooter segments.

That's unrealistic, sorry. Even 40hrs is stretching it for a full price game. This has never been the case for full price games beyond outliers like 100+hr JRPGs like Persona. Not even western 'epic' RPGs like Witcher 3 or BG3 are 100 hours. (Maybe BG3 if you're going for completionist stuff.)

The only games with the kind of return on investment you're talking about are sim games you'd just replay over and over (city builders, Factorio, etc), MMOs, or maybe MTX in online shit like DotA/League/CS.

I actually like the look. Super detailed lighting plus slightly off models and skin material gives this effect of everyone looking like a clay model, or an action figure or a puppet, which I actually quite enjoy. Many environments in this game have his plastic sort of look too, feels like you're playing with action figures. I really like ray tracing used in this way, rather than to achieve photorealism, which is always going to look uncanny with humans and other organic stuff.

I'm really looking forward to it myself, though I don't know if I need a save from the main game or not for it or if they interact at all. I had it on Xbox but bought it again on PC since it's so cheap and my system can run it much better, but I haven't replayed just yet.

The new DLC just sounds like it'll be real fun and poke a bit at what Robocop 3 did from how they presented some hints about what's to come in it. Also that playable ED-209 segment is gonna be awesome.

I was mistaken unfortunately, and the most you can do is get him kicked off the force as part of the game's Fallout-style ending thing. To do that, just don't engage with him, scold him if you ever have a chance to, and otherwise treat him like shit.

Easily one of the top 5 games of the past few years and the new gold standard for what a movie game should be
Polish people did Robocop justice
The new game is likely going to be just as good and is a day 1 buy for me
Currently replaying on the absolute hardest difficulty that I didn't even realize unlocked after I beat it on what I assumed was the hardest difficulty
The game frontloads the immersive sim with Old Detroit being about 2 hours of stuff at the start of the game (assuming you do everything) and then the rest of the game all those imsim sections are shorter
I am 100% going to be replaying this game multiple times in my life solely because of how fucking good it is
I cannot recommend it enough anon I paid $9 for it and I feel like I scammed the devs out of it
Actually good Unreal Engine game, actually good movie game, actually soulful and respectful of the original property, feels like what Robocop 3 should've been

In what way? For an open/hub world game with heavy ray tracing and looking as nice as it does it performs about as well as you'd expect. I never got any slowdowns while playing it, it's not the fastest but performance was pretty consistent.
