It's good, but it's worse than the 1st one

How in the hell can it be even worse than the boredom fest that was the first game???

It's better in quite literally every single way and I mean literally literally. There is not a single aspect where 1 shines above 2.

I'm in chapter 3, kind of feeling neutral towards it. The purpose of it is to give some sense of progression and allowing the player to build their own playstyle but the overall gameplay is already fleshed out enough. The skills also aren't that powerful to truly differentiate playstyles (faster hacking, faster scanning, longer scan visibility, auto-aim).

Atleast you can ignore it entirely or refund skills without any effort, that's some good game design right there.

I don't think it's supposed to really give the game build diversity. I think it's just gradually upgrading yourself but with a bit of freedom for where you want to do it first. It's just a small little progression system that's a bit less passive than it was in the first game.

>'Climb' isn't the same button as 'jump'
>'Punch' is on circle instead of square
>'Crouch' is on a trigger instead of a face button or clicking in a joystick
>No way to change controller presets
Who the FUCK okayed this shit? DS1 had a perfect control scheme. Why fuck with it?

Imo 1 has better music, better writing, better plot, better atmosphere
DS2 does have some improvements to the gameplay, but only marginal. Reviewers made it out to be this huge massive improvement and "it's like MGSV!"
The stealth mechanics are slightly better than DS1, but nowhere even near MGSV's
The shooting mechanics are slightly better than DS1, but again nowhere near MGSV's
The cover mechanic is a teeny tiny bit better, but super far from MGSV
The melee combat is really quite fun, but again only a very small improvement over DS1's melee mechanics, especially when we factor in what Director's Cut added to the melee.
The boss fights are still huge slow bullet sponges

literal aids when you aren't quite able to climb and jump instead, better if jump and climb are different buttons

I heard they made the tone way more comedic in 2. Is that true? I actually liked that as bizarre as it was, the story took itself (mostly) serious in 1.

It doesn't, it's full quirk chungus now with a sprinkling of bootleg Evangelion.

Arguably
I would say 1 feels more poignant, somber, subtle
2 is much more abrasive in comparison to 1

They literally have the main character do a heckin guitar solo during a fight. It’s comedically mundane.
