This map is actually pretty easy, since the enemies can't really attack together, plus they're way too restricted in their movement to be a threat. I usually bring both Tate and Thany without issues here despite the archer spam, for instance.

I wish IS would bring back Tellius style bonus exp instead of the overworld skirmishes. People argue Tellius bexp make the games too easy, but never really got that when it can be entirely ignored like skirmishes but I never hear people cry about those as much. Bexp at least encourages you to try and play efficiently to earn it so it is a reward for actually going out of your comfort zone sometimes. Wish we would go back to pure menu bases as well, but I know monastery/Somnial slop is here to stay.

start with 'fates conquest' if you want lots of mechanical interactions and build autism and a decent amount of mathematics.
start with new mystery if you want to play Marth and you don't like doing lots of mechanical interaction in your strategy games but still want a challenge. It gets better with higher difficulties.
Engage is like fates in that it has a lot of mechanics, but it was a lot more clunky and obtrusive with the new mechanics while a lot of the systems in fates like dual strikes or skills just happen in the background without active input. Still a good game for gameplay.

That's probably for the best, those promoted ones don't fuck around. The actual reason I mentioned the left chests earlier is because the first relay runner missed them because he didn't grab them at the start and got cockblocked by the hero reinforcements. The last time I ran this map, I got so ballsy I even farmed the reinforcements from the stairs by throne for a few turns before hitting the limit because they still spawn even if Ein is dead and you can leave Roy on the throne to be out of range of both.

I would say it's best to give it to someone already high in the stat, but not if they're likely to cap naturally, like Rutger with speed for example. It's also okay to give defensive boosts to frail units in my opinion, as long as your main tanks don't really need them. In an ironman context, your lord should get most of the robes/shields/talismans though.

Angelic Robes can go on just about anybody, but generally they're best used on characters with either already high bulk or really low HP.
Secret Books get sold 99% of the time, but they can be used sometimes on characters that see a lot of combat and see 70-85 hitrates often like FE7 Marcus.

Talismans are really niche because most units have bad RES and pure water/barrier exists. I don't know of any characters that particularly want one in any game.
Body Rings are also a bit niche but they can help units who often use weapons heavier than their base CON. Mostly foot units though since mounts lose aid from it.

I don't know. I think FE11 and FE12 have quite a few differences even if you don't like all the changes made. Kris alone is completely game warping and the reclassing especially in FE12 adds a lot of depth that wasn't there otherwise.

Hit rates displayed that are below 50 are actually slightly lower and hit rates that are above 50 are actually slightly higher.

For instance, a 70% chance to hit is actually more like an 82% chance to hit. And the big scary bandit with only an 18% chance to hit actually only has about a 7% chance. They do this because it feels better to play.

I tried playing this once decade ago. It was Fire emblem 7.
It was really good. I enjoyed it... but when the rooster of characters had been doubled I felt overwhelmed like plying OG X-Com. I just couldn't handle mentally the sheer amount of:
- picking characters
- building relationships
- managing weapons
- apparently some secret shops are roaming around
It was too much. But you guys treat it like Tuesday.
Finally I picked Sacred Stones and it was soooo goood for my brainlet taste.

Questions:
- Is there a sort of "do not pick this character" tier list? That for some reason they are so inherently bad they just fucking suck?
- On the other hand I feel it sucks that some characters are simply overpowered and feels like they are the one you are supposed to steamroll with.
- How do I cope with weapon management. I would just love to equip the shit out of it all characters.
- The fuck is wrong with tedious level grinding? Especially healers, or god forbid dancers...
- Who the hell even decides send to arena? Even with full health and best gear the RNG can simply kill the best one.

Your frustration is valid. Fire Emblem can feel like micromanagement hell—especially when the roster doubles, and you’re juggling weapons, supports, shops, and survival. It’s like OG X-Com but anime-flavored.

Oh yes. Sacred Stones (FE8) has a few:

Overpowered Units?

Some units feel like the devs gave up balancing:

Seth – Can literally solo the game. Early paladin god.

Franz – Starts good, stays good, ends amazing.

Vanessa – Flying + speed = win button.

Tethys (Dancer) – Doesn’t fight but doubles your best unit’s turn.

That feeling of “I guess I’m supposed to use them” is legit. You can self-limit: don’t use Seth except to rescue people, for example.

Weapon Management Hell?

You’re not alone.

Don’t try to fully equip everyone. Focus on 5–6 core units.

Strong weapons = boss killers. Everyone else = iron spam.

Use the convoy to juggle inventories.

Don’t hoard. Use your killing edge. It'll break, but so will the enemy.

Eventually it becomes second nature, but early on it’s a constant source of decision fatigue.
Healers and Dancers XP Grind?

Absolutely tedious. They level like molasses:

Healers gain 11 XP per heal.

Dancers get 10 XP per dance. That's it.

Use Barrier or Torch spam for more XP.

Solution?

Promote healers early so they can fight.

Use stat boosters on dancers to survive stray hits.

Use the Tower of Valni to grind… if you're okay with that. It’s optional.

You’re not weak for disliking it—it’s busywork unless you love slow optimization.
