i think the biggest barrier for most people is the performance.

I'm still playing World, and when I'm done with that I'm going to play Rise.

I was interested in Wilds, but I'm not going to buy a game for $70, and I'm not going to buy a game with Denuvo still on it. I've been waiting for them to remove it (like they did for World,) and it just kind of sucks to hear how poorly the game is doing right now. I want it to be fun, but also... I'll still just enjoy the MonHun games I already have.

I've put 125 hours into it and would call it 'fine'. I've been playing since Freedom 2 and, all in, it's probably the worst I've played, but it still scratches the itch well enough. I'll take a basically passable new monster hunter over no new monster hunter.

Wilds somehow has the best combat but the worst everything else. Having said that, I wish they'd kept it clunkier like the pre world games and there was a bigger focus on gathering and prepping. I feel the prepping side of the game was always really shallow and they could have done a lot of interesting things to flesh it out.

Most monsters in Wilds have way more HP than High Rank monsters do in World. It's not that they nerfed the monsters, it's that they gigabuffed our damage and never bothered with balancing it.

The only series I give a shit about, they dropped the ball so hard I uninstalled months ago. Couldn't even beat high rank since it always crashed on Jin Dahaad and none of the fixes worked. Apparently the performance is worse now? How the fuck does that happen?

I'll watch what happens when g rank comes but it won't be a day 1 buy like every other title in the series. There's nothing rewarding playing this game, just really a boring waste of time.

They're incompetent and didn't force shaders to recompile after updates and so people are trying to play with a fucking mountain of shader comp running in the background and tanking their performance when it should have been done on launch. Did they say anything about the performance yesterday? I have a decent pc, 9800x3d, 32gb ram and a 4070ti. I can run it like 40-100fps at 1080p which is really sad for how it looks, but that's the main problem, the game runs like shit for how it looks like and then you read their twitter shit saying "it's your fault, you need a better pc" but you know that this game can't be properly run in decent resolutions, good graphics and 1440p+ right now, you need 2027 hardware.

you might want to elaborate on this.
I think focus mode is breaking the game because of how positioning is now less important, which means the biggest "difficulty" they can add is monsters being extremely spazzy and jumping/flying around all the time making you harder to "aim".
I can see this already being present in monsters that they added in "Free title updates".

Focus mode is too intrusive of a gimmick. Being able to free aim every attack mid animation makes it so that the player doesn't have to care about his position relative to the monster anymore, or to predict the monster's movements. It makes the combat uninteresting.
Almost every weapon has parries and some charging mechanic now, so weapons lose their individuality.
The wound system is too broken, at least Capcom has shown there that they're willing to adjust it for the AT's, but as someone said above that's the exception not the rule.

I am glad they fixed the drop rates but the slow walk and talk scenes arent for me
