Game is fiction. In real life Samurai used poison, lies, trickery, guns, and concubines to murder other lords during sex. Most "ninjas" were samurai in plain clothes.
They only cared about "honor" when it benefitted them, which is honestly very realistic.

Literally not a single group of people in history have ever been "honorable"
Honor is something you whine about when you lose and occasionally express when you win and don't feel threatened. No one ever engaged in honor in a protracted war scenario. Individuals have engaged in honorable behavior, but as a whole no group has ever been honorable.
