1 had the best story, but 2 was better at pretty much everything else. Both great games.

Infamous 1's map design is straight ass, just a bunch of flat city blocks on a flat plane with the odd sewer section that drags on.

>final decision
>can't make it
fucking hacks, they flubbed what could have been the most kino pair of endings in vidya
>good cole sides with the beast because he doesn't want to die in vain
>evil cole saves humanity because he hated the beast more than he liked being alive

It wouldn't even be that hard.
>literally the same two missions, but change a few voice lines depending on karma
>good cole desperately yelling at his friends to stand down, cripples nix instead of killing her, meanwhile civilians and his former friends beg him to stop
>evil cole hunting down the beast out of hatred and to avenge trish twice, kills kuo for being a bitch, while civilians shy away from cole (but still cheer him on)
>kill beast ending for evil cole has him become a fiercely debated topic in history while zeke just wants to mourn him
>good beast cole has him built a new society of conduits (EASIEST SEQUEL BTW) with a memorial for zeke

it's like the Prototype comics but less painful

I really really want a remake of Infamous 1, done properly. The game is awesome but better polish and graphics would take it to the next level. Too bad very few developers know how to remake a game properly without making it look like generic UE5 slop with dogshit lighting

Infamous 1 had better art direction/story but the combat was basically a third person shooter. 2 felt more like a proper action game

Not even that. You have to go back and actual flip your karmic alignment, which is extremely painful because there's no point in being anything less than Infamous or Hero since you'd lose out on important powers. "Switching your karmic alignment" is completely retarded, because Cole is always either Good or Evil, no in-between. This is the first morally ambiguous decision in the entire series and it just locks you out and tells you to be hecking ebil for several hours. If the entire game had morally complex decisions, that would make slightly more sense, but that doesn't happen since the side missions are just "good" or "evil". For Hero/Infamous Cole to immediately snap to the opposite side just to pick the other decision is literally out of character.

The Amp was a lot more satisfying and cool looking than Cole's regular punches.
Also I still think about the way that Infamous 2 uses the button prompts in the hero ending

Gonna be real this game is alright but the fact that it came out in 2009 is a bit laughable.
Feels like it should have been a launch title.

Only thing I'd disagree with is atmosphere. I liked the first game's setting and themes way more, though that's really subjective.
The shit going on 2 just really didn't grab me the way creepy characters like Alden, Sasha, and "Kessler" did, though the story they made for it was still pretty good objectively.

you (and the majority like you) are actual fucking retards with no concept of what makes for good levels.
1 by far had better levels because the missions themselves took place in curated areas of the city that were like mini-levels. In other words in was part of the city sectioned in a way that created combat scenarios.
meanwhile 2 is just complete open world slop where they spawn enemies around you and throw them your way. it's mindless and boring and i can't fucken believe that i was the only one that felt this way at the games launch.
'map design' for retards like you seems to be limited to just the liveliness of the world, which is what the game has going for it (with a good story also), but i don't care about side-activities and a 'lively' feeling city. as far as i'm concerned the world of infamous is hit and doesn't have to feel lively with gay side activities like in gta.
1 is the better game (as in gameplay) and a better depressive atmosphere.
2 has a more enjoyable story and side content.

counterpoint, the amp fucks and between that and the ice launcher I can forgive a lot of sins
As fun as it was to plink reapers in the head over and over to build electricity the structure you mention was incredibly stifling and made navigation a pain in the ass even with the hover ability. 2 went overboard with shit like the flooded areas and the train yard but they at least tried having things other than generic city blocks and setpieces. There was a flow to the entire map, at least in theory.

I will say that I replayed both games within the last couple years and I still can't remember them as well as Prototype, and that's just fucking Manhattan straight up.

I guess that must be a different experience for different people.
I've never been to NYC, and Prototype's map is as utterly generic as it can be to me. I can't remember a single thing about it other than a lot of buildings of various heights, dotted with military checkpoints and a bit of park.
