What do people actually have against this game
It never pretends you're the main character, it's no different from watching a movie, you just experience the story from a neutral point of view

Retards get irrationally upset because they think they have agency in a narrative.

No life losers who want war have never been through it so they think a horrible event with millions of fatalities will somehow fix their lives

>your name in the credits
>4th wall breaking characters
>writers/creators explicitly say they want to critique both the player and this mindless shooter genre that was so popular at the time
>4th wall breaking loading screens that directly speak to the player
but yeah don't self insert.

I hate you gaslighting trannies so much

That's just the narrative unfolding
>>writers/creators explicitly say they want to critique both the player and this mindless shooter genre that was so popular at the time
Not canon
>>4th wall breaking loading screens that directly speak to the player

It insists upon it's message despite doing nothing to prove it.

That one pissed me off. How are you bring up a fucking “muh violent videogames” argument in 20 fucking 12? That shit was old news and a joke (although it always was) by the late 2000s and only propagated by retarded conservative boomers. Are you going to rally against Rambo movies also? Maybe ban Wil E. Coyote cartoons too?

well theres the problem, the game criticizes you for playing the game and causing atrocities but never actually gives you a choice at all other than uninstalling the game/quitting so it just comes off as pretentious and lazy considering it boils down to another generic cover shooter if you ignore the 4th wall shit.
And there's older games that give you an actual choice like deus ex having npcs change dialogue based on how gun happy you are.

Name one game where you have agency that breaks you out of the narrative.

Not exactly. The game isn't railing against violent video games in general-it's more about how players consume violence in games without thinking about the consequences or narrative context. It’s not “violence bad,” it’s “why do you want this violence?” It deliberately puts you in messed up situations to show how shitty it would be if war games treated their consequences seriously instead of glorifying them. The point is you’re not the hero, you’re not fixing anything, and if you played it like a standard bro-shooter, that should mess with you. Whether or not it lands depends on the player, but it’s not some lazy Jack Thompson-tier hot take.
