The devs made most of the dlc become part of the base game recently, and keep in mind DE already included like 4 expansion/dlc worth of content. It's a fucking generous package.

The new chinese dlc adds a lot of new civs too that are also compatible with multiplayer. The other remaining dlcs are mostly single player stuff

Just grab the base game. Again, keep in mind it already has the content of like 8 expansions/dlcs along with the original age of kings content. You can always just grab another dlc later when it goes on sale, but the base game should keep you occupied for a long time
