Exactly. People keep trying to assign "the Sans role" to every mysterious character, but Sans worked in Undertale because of the buildup, the theming, and the context of Genocide route. Tenna’s just weird right now-unhinged for sure, but not nearly as narratively anchored. If anyone’s on track to fill that Sans-tier boss role, it’s probably Spamton, assuming he doesn’t get completely sidelined by chapter 3 or 4. But honestly? I wouldn't be shocked if Toby makes Berdly the final boss just to mess with us.

Spamton isn't going to be narratively relevant, him appearing in Chapter 3 at all is only because he was created to be a foil/buildup to Tenna. He was made long after Deltarune's story was set in stone and him even being a boss fight was a decision made on a whim because the story flowed better that way than just having a Mettaton battle.
