Tower of Babel does not have any random encounters. Combos shorten battles significantly. Enemy variety is significantly higher than its contemporaries. I'm sorry you got filtered, man.

Play Skies of Arcadia Legends. It has a slightly worse audio quality, but you can listen to the OST later. It's a significantly tonally different game but it is another one of those once in a lifetime RPGs.

xenokino is the new gold standard for jrpgs imo. It's crazy how much talent square enix gave up over the years. Not only did they lose whole xenokino people but the father of final fantasy himself and then started to produce nothing but trash. I hate that I still ove the games even with a bitterness since they are abysmal dogshit nowdays. ps1 era will never be replicated.

nta but he's right. the platforming sections in the tower have zero random encounters. every single encounter is hand placed and cannot interrupt any jumps. it's a potential issue in other parts of the game but in the tower specifically it categorically cannot happen.
