What happened to free browser games?
Anonymous No.713890889 [Report] >>713890928
Mobile gaming made them irrelevant. The average person doesn't own a desktop anymore but everyone owns a phone.

They were called FLASH GAMES and represented the WILD WEST OF THE INTERNET. They died out in the early-mid 2010s with the normiefication of the internet when everyone started using social media (and also what >>713890889 said)

Legit seeing this for the first time after 20+ years and I burst out crying, shitting, pissing, cumming myself. Thanks OP.

flash games died when flash support died. it was honestly an outdated dogshit format even if I will forever have nostalgia for newgrounds, addicting games, andkon, armor games, kongregate, and technically old youtube I guess.
having a giant library of free games was so cool, even if most of em sucked. some of the best games are still on my steam account.

They still kinda exist on itchio and shit, but nobody talks about them because there's just so many other games to play and talk about, even for free. It's a shame that those little projects never get a chance to shine, but that's just the way it is.

I saw Monster's Den on steam yesterday on sale and grabbed it just to throw the dev a few coins.

Seems neat, and actually taking advantage of the switch 2's new feature.
