The word you're looking for is input latency. The weight capacity has been increased for the better. You can literally ignore the hint feature and it's nothing like OOT Navi. The dialogue was toned down but not as harshly as it's suggested, there's a dude hitting on women nonstop in every chapter. Not censored. A 60FPS patch is still an option down the road.

I also would like to state for the record nothing in the GameCube NA translation or Switch remake infers that Vivian is transgender. There's no story arc associated with a trans coming out plot. The only dialogue in the English translation that comes even close is Vivian saying she won't be treated like a brother. Given the context, it's like the youngest sibling who had enough of the oldest siblings yanking their chain. Everyone who had brothers would troll their siblings by saying they scream like a girl. Or that a girl acts too much like a boy. Never a trans statement. Fucking Reddit Resetera weirdos.

Switch. It has more content by a slim margin. I think they fixed a soft lock or two as well (in addition to other glitches). The framerate change is baffling but it doesn't matter all too much. People complaining about Vivian are making mountains out of molehills. You can't go wrong either way, but if you've played the GCN one before I recommend you try the new one to decide for yourself.

Emulate the original version or play it on GameCube / Wii if you have the option. Without devolving into individual gripes about the remake, I think it's fair to say that TTYD did not need a remake, so it's a bad choice to reward Nintendo for creating one. For context, real fans of 64 and TTYD have been waiting over 20 years for a proper sequel. We've had 5 duds in that time period.

Switch version has the framerate halved for no reason and the script adapted for really-sensitive LGBTQIA++ babies. The Japanese original allowed the sisters to call Vivian a boy. Goombella now has a crush on Vivian instead of calling him a boy with the tattle.
