I'm a HK cultist and I'd say the only real flaws are that the map pins should be free, and I shouldn't need a guide to know how to start the DLC I paid for
other than that it's basically perfect. I find it funny how basically nobody has figured out what makes it so good and think its merits lie in 'it's like le dark souls'

The first 90% of Pantheon 5 being a tedious half-hour grind against shitter bosses that you have to do every single time just to get to the actually challenging end part is actively anti-fun game design

Fun platforming, shit bossfights that test your patience more than anything, and sadly the focus of this game is not the platforming.

True ending was closed behind the most annoying fetch quest of all time. The endgame requirements in Igavanias are trollish but fair. Especially the endgame, which is optional. While in Hollow Knight ‘'lol richter reference’'

The maps is about 20% too spacious which killed the pacing a bit. Especially towards the end were you want to figure out where to go.

Location maps are not enabled by default, you need to find the cartographer to even turn them on. You need to spend one of the valuable charm slots to even know your location (and we're talking about a game with a ton of samey corridors).
Even worse, a ton of other metroidvanias started mindlessly copying this clunky shit. I really hope it's not present in Grime 2 for example.

You have a huge map but the game only has a certain way to finish it and if you miss an item that is required to go further you might waste a lot of time
